Golden autumn

 in South Tyrol

Probably the most beautiful time of year for an enjoyable holiday in South Tyrol. Törggelen is a time to give thanks for the rich summer harvest and to enjoy a convivial get-together. The custom was invented right here, in the heart of the Isarco Valley, where the chalet Am Wiesenweg is located.

Hiking

To stay fit and make room for new delicacies, a mountain tour to the nearby Funes Valley, in the Dolomites or to the Plose is a good idea. World-class climbing routes for beginners to professionals can also be found in these mountains, which Reinhold Messner called “the most beautiful in the world”. And he should know!

Törggelen

“Schlutzkrapfen” (ravioli with spinach filling), “Geselchtes” (smoked pork) with sauerkraut, roasted chestnuts and a new wine – the custom of Törggelen unites all the inhabitants of the Isarco Valley and ensures convivial hours with food and drink. From mid-September to the end of November in all the wine taverns in the area.

On the road

Törggelen does not only take place in wine taverns, but for some years now it has been held with great success in the squares and small streets of Chiusa, where once a week in summer people play, eat and celebrate.

Chestnut Trail

The “Keschtnweg”, as the locals call it, stretches for no less than 90 kilometres, from Vilpiano near Bolzano to Bressanone. Accessible from Chiusa through the Valle rio Tina, the first or second stage of the trail can be completed (north or south to Saubach).
